 Canadian Experience Class for Canadian Immigration


The Canadian Experience category is the option for temporary foreign workers and international graduate students at post-secondary institutions to obtain permanent residence in Canada. According to the Canadian national occupational classification (NOC), skilled work experience must be in skill type 0 (managerial occupations), skill level a (professional occupations) or skill level B (technical occupations and skilled occupations).

Applicants should not plan to live in Quebec and must meet the following minimum requirements to apply for permanent residence within the Canadian Experience category:

The applicant must be either:

  • A temporary foreign worker with at least two years of full-time skilled work experience (or equivalent) in Canada, or a foreign graduate of a Canadian post-secondary institution with at least one year of full-time skilled work experience (or equivalent) in Canada
  • Gain skilled work experience in Canada through the appropriate work or study permit
  • You must apply while working in Canada – or-within one year of leaving the job in Canada
  • IELTS/TEF results must be included with the application

The application will be assessed on two requirements if the applicant is a temporary foreign worker:


  1. Must have experience and be proficient in English or French.
  2. An application for a graduate of a Canadian post-secondary educational institution with Canadian work experience will be evaluated using the above requirements, as well as:


Education.
